Safety
SSL is the abbreviation of Secure Sockets Layer, a widely accepted encryption method. Our bank possesses a 128-bite encryption key, which protects the communication channel. The VeriSign Company enables CIB Bank to use the 128-bite key, which provides us with the SSL based encryption. Nowadays this encryption is used in 90% of the world’s electronic trade. The browser used by the purchaser encrypts the data of the card owner with the help of the SSL prior to the data being sent. CIB Bank receives the data in codes, which are indecipherable for unwarranted people.

The online payment system of CIB Bank enables payments with cards included in the VISA and VISA Electron product lines (VISA Electron in case the issuing bank permits it), and it also supports transactions by web cards designed for online payment.

Payment process
How does online payment work?
The customer initiates payment on the website of the retailer/service by opting for online payment and as a result the customer is directed to the secured payment site of the bank. In order to carry out payment the card number, the card’s expiry date, and the three-digit validation code at the back of the card – on the signature sticker – need to be provided. The transaction is initiated by you after which the card undergoes a process in which the originality of the data provided, the credit, and the purchase limit are checked by the bank. If the data are valid, the sum is blocked on your card by the issuing bank’s account management. The reduction of the sum appears on the account in a couple of days, depending on your bank account management.
How is online payment different from the traditional one?
Two types of transactions can be distinguished: Card Present and Card not Present. Card Present transactions are carried out with the help of the POS terminal facility. Following the card swipe and entering your PIN code the terminal contacts the car holder’s bank. This happens through the permission centre and depending on the issuer of the card through the VISA or MasterCard network. The validity and credit check happens at this stage (authorisation). Taking the same route backwards the terminal (and the retailer) receives the confirmation or rejection. The customer signs the receipt. The Card not Present is a transaction in which the bank card is physically not present. It includes transactions via mail, telephone, or online payments, during which the customer (card holder) initiates the transaction by entering the required card data on a safe (128-bite encrypted) payment site. You are sent a permission number about the valid transaction. It is equal to the number on the paper based receipt.
What does blocking mean?
The transaction is followed by the blocking of the sum as soon as the bank receives the information about the payment, as for the actual reduction of the money the data have to arrive, which takes a couple of days. During this time the amount could be spent, thus the sum of the purchase is blocked. The blocked sum is part of the account balance, so there is interest on it, but it cannot be spent again. The blocking ensures the rejection of those transactions for which there is no credit, even if the purchase would be possible according to the account balance.
Valid payments and to dos

- If you returned to the original site, but the browser redirects you to the payment site (by clicking the ’back’, ’reload’, or ’refresh’ buttons), the transaction is rejected automatically for security reasons.
What to do in case of an invalid transaction?
A transaction tag is generated about each transaction. We recommend that you record this tag. If the payment attempt is rejected by the bank, please contact your bank account management.
Why do I have to contact my bank account management in case of an invalid payment?
During the card checking process the account manager (card issuer) bank contacts the retailer’s (recipient’s) bank whether the transaction is possible or not. The recipient bank cannot give out confidential information, only the bank identifying the card holder is eligible to do so.
I got an SMS from my bank about the blocking of the sum, yet the retailer informed me that the payment was invalid. What does it mean?
This can happen if the card has been checked on the payment site, but you did not return to the original website of the retailer. This transaction is unfinished and thus automatically invalid. In such cases the sum is not blocked on your card.
